Our "Cedar Creek" scented candle is inspired by the real Cedar Creek, a waterway woven into the history and landscape of Kansas. Tucked away among the rolling hills Northeast of Lawrence, Cedar Creek winds quietly beneath towering limestone bluffs and through forests that have stood watch for generations.

With August often bringing its hottest and most humid days, we wanted to create a fragrance that offered a welcome escape from the summer heat.

Cedar Creek captures the refreshing calm that comes when a gentle breeze moves through the trees and off the surface of a gentle creek. Almost like bringing the campsite into your living room.

Cedar Creek opens with fresh marine notes that capture the crisp air rising from the creek before giving way to an evergreen heart of cypress and juniper. Grounded by warm cedar and soft musk, the fragrance settles into a clean, woodsy finish.

Whether it reminds you of a peaceful hike beneath the bluffs or simply an afternoon spent listening to the water flow by, Cedar Creek is an invitation to slow down and rediscover the quiet beauty waiting just beyond the beaten path.

Behind the Scent

Behind the Frame

“I visited various local creeks, rivers, waterfalls, and lakes, taking numerous photos, but none initially fit my what I was looking for. I wanted to capture something that felt both calming yet vague enough without making people immediately think “Hey, I’ve been there” or “I’ve seen that place in other photos”. I wanted the image to feel peaceful and immersive without being too literal, something that invites the viewer into a calm outdoor moment and leaves room for their own interpretation. This creek scene felt like the right balance for Cedar Creek.
The early morning light, the cascading creek, the stacked stones, and the shades of green all reminded me of the fragrance notes. The shaded trees and flowing water made me think of cypress, ozone, and marine notes, while the wooded backdrop, creek stones, and mossy edges evoked the earthy depth of cedar and musk.
I actually hadn't planned to take this specific photo initially. While packing up my gear by a river, I noticed a branching path upstream. I crossed the river and discovered a quieter section of the creek filled with dragonflies and the small water feature shown in the submission. Interestingly, when I returned to the location a few days later, the water levels were really low and the cairn was gone, almost as if it had fulfilled its purpose and vanished back into the landscape, reminding me that some moments are not meant to be possessed, only discovered.”

Candle Care

  • Trim the wick to 1/4", before lighting and place on level surfaces.
  • For the first burn, allow the candle to burn for 2–3 hours to achieve an even melt pool, optimal hot throw, and proper performance.
  • Keep away from drafts & flammable objects.
  • Make sure the candle pools entirely before snuffing it out.
  • Keep your candles within view and out of reach of children and pets.
  • When burning, be sure there is at least 1/4" of wax left in the bottom of your jar to avoid shattering.
  • Keep your candle lit no longer than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
  • Don't blow out the candle. Use a snuffer instead.
