Behind the Scent

My husband, Nate, hails from a modest town in the north of China, a place known only for its wealth of oil fields but for us, the brilliance of its marigolds. Each spring, the streets would be adorned with their cheerful blooms and unfurling across the vast fields beyond the city in a spectacle of yellow, orange, and red.

For me, marigolds carry memories of my own; of family gatherings at my grandparents’ home on Learnard Street. I looked forward to their arrival each spring, as they seemed to announce that warmth and joy were on their way.

Upon moving to Kansas, Nate worked tirelessly, blending scent after scent, until at last, he found it. Not only did he bring the marigold to life in candle form, but he wove into it the rolling clouds and the sweet, fresh air of his hometown. So that with a single breath, he might stand among those springtime fields once more.

Candle Care
  • Trim the wick to 1/4", before lighting and place on level surfaces.
  • Keep away from drafts & flammable objects.
  • Make sure the candle pools entirely before snuffing it out.
  • Keep your candles within view and out of reach of children and pets.
  • When burning, be sure there is at least 1/4" of wax left in the bottom of your jar to avoid shattering.
  • Keep your candle lit no longer than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
  • Don't blow out the candle. Use a snuffer instead.
