Owens’ Oath

When Nate and I set about the making of a fragrance, we most often begin by blending scents that carry within them the spirit of the collection’s theme. Once a fragrance has revealed itself as true to that vision, we then turn our minds to the colors that accompany it, as well as the name and story it will bear. For every scent, like every memory, is meant to awaken moments of life, both tender and profound.

Yet for this particular fragrance, our process was turned upon its head. Rather than beginning with the scent itself, we started with the colors we wished to capture in scent, hues that had lingered in our imagination for years. The name had already been given long ago, waiting patiently to be fulfilled. For Owens’ Oath, we sought to create a fragrance that would honor the Owens sisters. The bold and free-spirited Gillian, with her flame of red hair, and the wise, grounded Sally who looked for normalcy in a judgmental world.

This particular scent was fashioned not merely from oils and notes, but from cherished memories of sibling-hood, and to remind us that no bond surpasses the one held fast between family or our chosen family.
