Behind the Scent

Whenever I think of January, New Year’s celebrations come to mind. I think of parties with tables full of snacks and hors d’oeuvres. I think about paper tiaras and sparkly noisemakers. I think about everyone shouting as the clock counts down. But one of the most important things I think about is being with the ones you love.

Nate and I had our first date on New Year’s Eve, so for the past 13 years it has been a celebration not only of another year together, but also of a new year beginning. Part of our New Year’s tradition is going out to dinner and then celebrating with friends afterward with a champagne toast at midnight.

For our January candle scent, we felt that capturing both the closure of a year and the joy of a new one beginning called for something that was pleasing to the senses yet celebratory. That’s why, for January, we released **Auld Lang Syne**.

We first launched this candle and scent in January 2021 in Asia, where it became a beloved favorite among many of our Andante Home-makers. After that year, we didn’t release the scent again. We were focused on our seasonal collections, and as we planned our move to the States, we chose not to continue a monthly candle scent at that time.

Fast forward to 2025, and we began thoughtfully reintroducing monthly candles as we prepared for the launch of the Andante Monthly Candle Club in January 2026. It felt only fitting to debut the club with the very first monthly candle scent we ever released, bringing our story full circle.

So, here’s a toast to a new year, new opportunities, new joys and to Auld Lang Syne (times long past).

Candle Care
  • Trim the wick to 1/4", before lighting and place on level surfaces.
  • Keep away from drafts & flammable objects.
  • Make sure the candle pools entirely before snuffing it out.
  • Keep your candles within view and out of reach of children and pets.
  • When burning, be sure there is at least 1/4" of wax left in the bottom of your jar to avoid shattering.
  • Keep your candle lit no longer than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
  • Don't blow out the candle. Use a snuffer instead.
